J.D. is in need of your LIQUID GOLD or your cash. Here’s a description from the family. JD has been going through so much in the last few years. He was diagnosed with hereditary kidney disease which eventually shuts the kidneys down requiring him to go on Peritoneal Dialysis. For the past year he has hooked up to a machine for 10 hours every night to clean the toxins out of his body! On February 14, 2020, JD got the call from Strong Hospital informing him that they had a kidney for him that was a perfect match! Sadly, the donor was a young man and it must be so heartbreaking for his family! However, upon doing a biopsy of the new kidney, the doctors discovered that it has a very rare genetic condition called TMA! It is curable but the IV medicine is almost $20,000. per dose! JD has had one transfusion and will probably need 2-3 more transfusions. The doctors will keep an eye on the kidney’s functions through weekly clinic visits and blood draws to determine if and when another dose is needed! If JD does not get this medicine then the kidney will slowly be destroyed by this TMA probably within 6 months! This will put him back on Peritoneal Dialysis, hooked to that machine and waiting once again for a new kidney! This drug may be expensive which why we call it LIQUID GOLD!!! We have been informed that this drug called Solaris is very expensive and is seldom covered by insurance! JD’s doctors are fighting to have the drug covered and time will tell! The medical bills are already high enough and we may have to pay for this too!!!! JD is finally getting his life back now that he’s free of the machine that has kept him alive! We are hoping he (and we) will not be straddled with so many medical bills at such a young age! Let’s help him start his new lease on life without the burden of all these bills, if possible!
