In mid January, Nancy was diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to her brain, kidneys and lymph nodes. Her prognosis was two weeks to two months to live. The family brought her home on hospice. Her daughter Christy, along with her sisters MaryAnn and Rosemary have been caring for her at home. Her only insurance which is Medicare only covers hospice care which only consists of a weekly nurse visit and someone coming in three times a week to give her a sponge bath. The family has hired a caregiver to come in five nights a week but it is very expensive and the family needs more help. A nursing home is not an option as it is much more expensive and not cover by insurance. Nancy is now confined to her hospital bed which is in the living room. Her care that is needed is much more intensive now. It is more than her daughter and sisters can provide. Any donations will go to hiring more help for Nancy, and to pay for medicines and supplies that hospice doesn’t cover.
