On February 9th 2020, my twin sister Melissa suffered a tragic accident. She fell down the stairs and landed on her cervical spine. Sadly, she injured herself badly... she got paralyzed from the neck down but has been making a great road to recovery in just 10 days! She is moving her arms a bit and her legs but it’s going to be a long way to full recovery. Melissa has to face her new reality of re-learning to do the most basic tasks we take for granted on a daily basis. Getting in and out of bed, taking a shower, feeding yourself, and even going to the bathroom. My twin is the hardest worker and has always been my idol. Even though we’re twins I’ve always looked up to her! Anyone who knows Melissa knows she is the strongest woman and so caring and generous. In this tragic time, I’m doing something I thought I would never do and that is, asking for help; financially. Melissa will most likely not be able to get back to work for at least a year since she can’t walk or do much for herself at the moment. I know she’s strong and she will recover but in the mean time, anything would help to get her through this tough time. My sister is so positive and so am I and my family and all her amazing friends. I just want to make sure she will be financially stable for what’s to come... Please show our family support and be a part of Melissa’s tough journey into recovery.
