For the past few weeks, one of my best friends Taylor has been experiencing strange episodes with moments where she felt like her brain was “glitching.” During an episode, she is unable to think or process the what she is doing. She has pushed through it and kept going to work and living her life. Recently, it has gotten so bad that it started happening 1-3x a day, and even her patients started to notice. She finally saw a neurologist who ordered an EEG and an MRI. When she showed me her results my stomach dropped. She has been diagnosed with a brain mass to her right frontal lobe that is large enough to cause her brain to shift 3 mm from right to left. Her seizure-like activity has increased in severity leaving her unable to drive, much less go to work. She has seen 2 neuro specialists and is waiting to see the top neurosurgeon in Austin next week. Fingers crossed that it’s a slow growing mass and she won’t need to make a trip to the ER before then. I am sharing this with you all to inform you and to ask for your help. She will most likely endure brain surgery and admission to the ICU. Needless to say, she will be out of commission for a while and the medical bills will rack up. She and her family are in shock, and the last thing they should be worrying about at this time are medical bills. All they need to focus on is seeing her bright smiling face and hear her goofy giggle on the other side of this. Anything you can contribute will help.
