We are Angelika and James. We moved to the bay area of California 3 years ago and have been having a hard time of things. After over 2 years of hopping from place to place renting rooms we finally got an apartment in Richmond, Ca and thought things were finally looking up for us. Angelika had a good job that had given her full time just after we moved into our new apartment and I was driving Lyft and Uber. I also started working at the same company as her part time on top of driving. Then Last October Angelika was without notice terminated and I was getting 0 hours from my part time work. Which got us behind on bills. Angelika did find another Job but has not been making as much as before so everything fell on me and I was overwhelmed. Recently my part time job has been giving me hours again after 3 months but Angelikas health has declined and is going to need a hip replacement. Also shortly before Angelika lost her job I got in a car accident and totaled our car and we were put in a desperate position to replace the car immediately and ended up having to buy another car with much higher payments. As it stand we need $3200 by February 24th to avoid being evicted we narrowly avoided getting our car repossessed but to do it had to take away from the rent. Only reason we even made that kind of choice of a car over rent was it bought us more time and both our jobs requre the use of a car and without it we would completely loose all of our income. We are very desperate and this is our last hope having exhausted every Avenue we could find for assistance. It seems that if you are clean and sober and don't have young children etcetera there is nearly no help any agency or program will offer you.
