I’m creating this campaign on behalf of a family friend whose 29 year old son, Christopher, was just diagnosed with stage 2 cancer. She’s a wonderful caring woman; who alone has gone through a lot after getting a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and right now this family needs our help. At the beginning of December Chris went to the hospital due to feeling ill and they discovered a mass. After initial ultrasounds and bloodwork the doctors decided to take the tumor out saying it was probable cancer. During surgery they removed a baseball sized tumor and after post-op was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer that has metastasized to the retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Christopher now needs chemotherapy to try and stop the spread of the cancer to other organs. Chris's employer is working with him the best they can and will let him take time off to do treatments but with no pay. He used his last vacation time for the operation and post-op recovery period. This is an acute medical emergency that has to be treated as soon as possible so things don’t escalate. The hospital is trying to work with them on medical, surgical and treatment costs but seeing how he’ll be missing a lot of work without pay this has quickly become financially overwhelming for their family. I’m asking for help to ease the stress and allow them to focus on fighting this cancer and getting Chris into remission. All donation amounts are greatly appreciated and are being raised for Chris's medical bills, living costs during treatment to supplement the loss of pay from work and for lodging/ travel expenses so that my friend can be with her son.
