Help A Black Trans Woman Immigrate
Donation protected
Hey everyone, I’m a 22 year old black woman of transgender experience in the beginning stages of permanent immigration application in Canada. I left West Africa 4 years ago to pursue my studies and start a new life away from all the religious and familial restraints that kept me from transitioning and truly living as myself. I won’t bore anyone with details but if you want to know more feel free to reach out to me. There has been scams on GFM which involved people posing as trans people in order to receive donations, so if you want to donate but feel unsure, please reach out to me for further proof of my identity, situation and details.
After I went part time in school due to multiple reasons*, I lost my ability to work (study permit rules). I am very close to finishing, however my student visa is expiring soon. As an African trans woman who transitioned while away, I do not have a safe place to get back to if I am ordered to leave (which is the case before your visa expires). Canada is the place where I transitioned, it’s the place where I finally got to breathe and be my own person, and it is also the place where I met my significant other. Canada is my home. I don’t have any other choice but to turn to the internet once again, please consider donating even $1 & please keep sharing.
I’m asking for help in order for me to fully immigrate to Canada and continue to live here in safety with my fiancé. Immigration lawyers are expensive and since I’m not allowed to work it’s hard/impossible to come up with these funds. I haven’t been able to work and sustain myself since September 2019 and though my fiancé has been helping we’re getting really strained. We have been living off of savings and money that was supposed to be used for my transition but we’ve both run out. He finally got a job and was laid off almost immediately due to the pandemic. Deadlines for my PR application are approaching fast. Thankfully, due to generous help received late last year, I was able to keep enough aside for the application fees themselves (which is well over $2K), however the lawyer fees are really what’s important.
The lawyer fees are currently estimated (by the firm itself) to be at around $4000, subject to going up depending on how nasty things get. My personal immigration case/status is *complicated* and I’d rather keep the details off the internet as you never know who’s watching and with what intentions.
*If you did donate and you’re wondering what exactly the problem is, you are more than welcome to reach out to me for more info.
In total, the funds here would cover:
— Immigration Lawyer Fees ($4000)
— Rent *my share* until I can obtain open work permit ($4122)
— Grocery Fund ($500)
Please consider helping if you can. Even $1 or sharing helps.
