Our Sweet Buttons Needs Emergency Pelvic Surgery

So almost 2 years ago this sweetheart came in to my life and I was forever hooked. He is absolutely the best pup I could ask for, so cuddly sweet and absolutely like velcro on me at all times. He will turn 2 in April so still just a pup. We recently moved to my parent's old house this week, following my dad's passing 3 months ago and apparently the picket fence up front had a gap just big enough for him to squeeze through. Buttons squeezed through the fence last night and before I could grab him he took off like lightning down the sidewalk. There was a truck turning at the corner that ran over my poor baby. My heart immediately stopped, and I just knew there was no way this little angel could survive that. All this happened in less than a minute, but I will never get this tragic event out of my memory. Well, my Buttons is a fighter for sure! We rushed him to the ER vet where he was monitored overnight and kept out of pain. He has a broken pelvis that will require surgery to put in screws and a plate. He has been sedated and it is just breaking my heart. My spunky, playful, loving Buttons is at the mercy of his Momma and the doctors that will help him through this long recovery. The vet expenses are unbelievable and I was completely shocked and taken back by what it will cost to keep him in our lives and us in his. But what is the alternative, let go of my baby? I just can't do that because he is our family. I know it is absolutely no one else's responsibility to foot these expenses, but if you or someone you know could help in anyway possible I would be forever grateful. Between last night's emergency room stay and today's vet stay we are already at almost $3000 and now I am being quoted up $5000 for the surgery. Unbelievable how expensive this will be, but to me he is worth every penny to have him in my life for 15 more years.
