Ty Davis’ Transplant Journey
Ty Davis, at the young age of 35, is suffering from end stage liver disease and unfortunately, his only option is a liver transplant. Ashleigh has taken time off from work so that she can be by Ty's side during this entire process. Over the last year or so, they've made many trips traveling to and from Houston to prepare for the transplant journey and have endured a lot of monetary expenses along the way. Recently, Ty's health has deteriorated which has led to several long stints in the hospital and more medical expenses that were unforeseen prior to receiving a transplant.
Unfortunately, Ty’s health took a turn for the worst and both his transplant team in Houston and doctors in Austin decided that it was in his best interest for him to be medically transported to Houston. Ty and Ashleigh will be at Baylor CHI St. Luke’s Medical Center until he receives a transplant.
The road to recovery and financial stability (post-transplant) will be long and hard. It's already tough as a single-income family making sure the everyday personal expenses are paid for, but now, the significant amount of medical expenses they'll be adding on top of that will be even more of a strain. Once Ty receives his new liver, he will be on a large list of medications, some for the rest of his life, so that his body does not reject the transplant, medications to prevent infection both bacterial and viral, and medications to regulate his blood sugar, etc. These medications can cost upwards of $5,000 a month! With any major surgery, there's always the risk of complications and/or setbacks, which means possible ER visits and hospital stints. In the upcoming months/years, Ty & Ashleigh will be traveling to and from Houston to attend follow-up appointment (daily, weekly, monthly, annually) which means more co-payments & deductibles as well as having to pay for fuel and both short & long-term housing accommodations.
We know so many have expressed interest in helping any way they can, as we all want to help ease their burden. For now, this is an area in which they could really use support to help relieve some of the burden off their shoulders. Your donation will allow Ty and Ashleigh to focus on recovering from a major surgery and overcoming the biggest obstacle of their lives.
Thank you so much for your contribution.
