Big Mike and Jordan, a Second Chance

Donation protected
4 years ago today I met these dogs for the first time. They had gotten out of their yard and gone on a little adventure. They ran up to me and my dogs and I was able to secure them until I found their owner. I came to find out that these two were living in a makeshift crate in the basement that was barely big enough for one of them. I got them proper crates and asked if I could train them so they could be house dogs. He declined. I asked if I could at least help get them out of their crates and graduate to the ‘freedom’ of the basement. That happened. I asked if I could have them spayed and neutered for him. He declined.

Fast forward one year later and he called me to tell me Jordan was pregnant. At that time I was able to have them seen by a veterinary professional and have them given vaccines for the first time. I was there to help with the birth of the puppies and to check on them periodically over the next two months. I got all of the puppies their first two rounds of shots and found them all loving homes. We fostered the last of the seven for two months.

After that I had to detach from the situation because I was so distraught over Mike and Jordan being confined to the basement. The house is on the block behind me so everyday when I drove by I looked to see if I could catch a glimpse of them. Always saying a little prayer for them and asking that somehow they might get a second chance, somewhere where someone would love them. They are; after all, two of the sweetest dogs I’d ever met.

Fast forward another three years and that call finally came. “I can’t deal anymore. They have to go. Do you want them?” I begged him to give me some time and he agreed. That was about three weeks ago. I have been calling rescues, clients, friends, sharing on social media etc. Everything I could think of. Then I was told “I leave town on Tuesday and they need to be gone before then”. ¿%€#!!

I have a tentative but costly plan in place:

*They will be boarded with another trainer where they will be socialized and worked with daily. She has graciously agreed to do this for a greatly discounted price. But can’t guarantee that the available space will be there for more than a week or two...

*IF they can get along with other dogs, or don’t prove dog aggressive we have a bully breed rescue/rehabilitation center willing to take them. They will try to keep them together.

*Both need vaccines updated, as the last vet they saw was with me three years ago.

*Mike needs to be neutered. I did have Jordan spayed after her litter of puppies. He would not let me near Mike’s ‘manhood’.

The above is what all the money raised will cover. Anything extra will stay with the rescue that steps in to help. Many people who have seen my posts have offered to help by making a donation. Now is your chance. Any little bit is appreciated. And please, share this along with all of the earlier posts. We are still actively looking for a foster family and ultimately a forever family for them to call their own.

Thank you for all of the shares, as well as your donations. I will keep you posted on Mike and Jordan’s great adventure and their new life that is only just beginning.
