Brains shouldn't bleed

James was brought to the ER Sunday 1/26 after displaying stroke symptoms. Once there, a baseline CT was done to show a “mass” of some sort. We were transferred to St Luke’s in Houston and were quickly moved to ICU due to findings. After multiple scans, the “mass” was determined to be a cavernous malformation or cavernoma. It’s difficult for the drs to see exactly what it is due to the area being surrounded with blood obstructing the view. So to speed forward a bit, we finally got to come home, but this is where the real battle begins with trying to keep it a calm, peaceful environment here because any “high” or “low” in emotions brings on severe pain to his head. If this issue arises again, we will more than likely have to go in for surgery on the brain stem. This is a lot to look in advance at, but we need to be prepared. Money doesn’t make itself and this will have him off work awhile and I’m unable to start my new job immediately due to being here with him, the financial burden has been HEAVY on his mind. As an adult, those are things we have to worry about. He would never ask for a handout, but I believe people care enough to want to help someone special even with they don’t ask. He is proud and would rather just make it with nothing than to ask for help. So I am, on behalf of him and our family, any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated. This would go towards cost of living right now and the future dr bills we know are coming, plus the appts we will have to go to and medications for treatment right now to control the symptoms. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated... we love y’all!! Candi & James Knowles
