Sunny’s Road To Recovery

If you look at Sunny now you wouldn’t be able to tell that less than 4 months ago he was living on the streets, fighting to survive every day. For an entire year we had to watch him live outside and come back battered and beaten constantly. We did our best to help him survive but we had no way to house him. We sprayed him with tick spray, cleaned his wounds, and fed him as much as possible but he was still facing the harshness of Massachusetts winters and fending off other animals. I finally decided to move out of my parents house which gave me the opportunity to help him and the day I went to take him off the streets he didn’t return. It was the first time in 6 months we didn’t see him and it was on the day that we were taking him in to get help. He showed up late at night with his tail almost cut off, his legs gashed, his face bruised and broken, with barley enough energy to walk. Thankfully we rushed him to a vet and got him taken care which came at a very large expense but he was worth it. Sunny was ready to come home and I did my best affording his medicine and cost with the help of friends. During his visit to the vet they discovered he was born with a defect that caused his eyelids to fold in and cause irritation in and around his eyes. This is usually mild but at some point he must of injured his eyes in a fight that cause his eye lashes to invert and cause his eyelashes to actually grow towards his eyeballs and stab him on a constant basis. This surgery was not life saving but it would be cruel to let such a sweet animal suffer so much. This obviously came at a monumental cost. As a school teacher I make enough to get by but this surgery has been extremely difficult to afford but as all animal lovers know you will do what you have to for your best friend. Sunny is without a doubt the nicest animal I’ve ever encountered and every person that doesn’t understand my obsession with him immediately changes their mind when they meet him. I’m not looking for much but absolutely anything would be a gigantic help. Even a share would be a appreciated and sorry for such a long read!
