My name is Kim. I have no experience with GoFundMe but I felt that I needed to try for my sister and her husband. I am the youngest of 4. Nineteen years younger than my oldest sister, Donna. Because I came along so many years later when my mom and dad were in their 40s and my mom was working outside the home helping to make a living for our family, she depended on my siblings to help in taking care of me so she could work. Many of my childhood memories are of being taken care of by my sister Donna. Donna and her husband Billy are both in their early 70s. They have two grown sons who each have grown sons. Donna and Billy took on the role of guardian for their youngest grandson from age 13-18. Even at Billy's age he continued to work and not just one job but two. Every day he worked an 8 hour maintenance job and then would go work another 3-4 hours at a cleaning job. They have always been there to help anyone who needed it if they could. Family, friends or even total strangers. They belong to an amazing little church congregation and have given generously to this church through their time, talents and monetary gifts. They have provided complete holiday meals and gifts to needy families at Christmas for several years. Their faith in God is very very strong and it continues to grow each day. Unfortunately their lives took a drastic turn back in October of this past year, 2019. Out of the blue, four days apart they were both diagnosed with cancer. Billy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Large cell non-hodgkins lymphoma and Donna with Stage 3 Uterine cancer. Both forms of cancer are very aggressive. They have both been undergoing chemo treatments for the last two months. Billy got so bad before his test results came back that he was almost past treating. Fortunately the doctor took a chance and started him on a chemo regimen that he felt would work for Billy's type. His cancer has been responding well to treatments but it really knocked him down. He is hoping he will be able to go back to his part time job once his chemo is over but he has a long way to go before that happens. Donna had a complete hysterectomy within a few weeks of finding out that she had cancer. The week after Christmas she had her first round of chemo. Her first experience didnt go well. Within minutes of beginning the 2nd drug she began to feel like she was being stuck all over with pins so they stopped that drug and came to the conclusion that she was having an allergic reaction. They then treated her with a different kind and so far it has been okay. Only drawback is that she has to go every week for that one particular chemo drug in addition to the other two which she gets every few weeks. They both experience a few days of feeling bad following their treatments but then it wears off. This weekend Donna went to comb her hair and the first clumps came out. The next morning there was more on her pillow. She decided there was no sense it letting it be patchy so last night her son used his clippers and shaved her head. She said that is the toughest thing about chemo....losing her hair. But now her and Billy are both bald and beautiful. After she finishes her 4-6 rounds of chemo then she has to do radiation treatments every day for five weeks. When that is over we are hoping and praying that her cancer will be stopped despite the fact that her kind is known for not being curable whereas Billy's is. Both of these amazing people have kept their faith and have not let this get them down. They say everyday, "God is going to make the cancer go away and we are both going to be cured just wait and see!" So, now that they are both unable to work, maybe for forever, all they have to pay their Bill's with and live on is their social security which we all know isnt enough these days. I am starting this GoFundMe account for my sister Donna and her husband Billy who are both fighting the fight of their lives. Please find it in your hearts if you can spare something and donate to help Donna and Billy Gibson with daily bills and necessities. God bless and thank you so very much.

Update: Billy went for a petscan on Tuesday to see how his cancer is responding to chemo. Due to his anxiety about being put in the machine for this scan, they gave him something to calm him beforehand. Unfortunately this made him kind of loopy. While there he needed to go to the restroom and as soon as he got inside, he suddenly got dizzy and fell and hit his head. The doctor said the fall was due to the anxiety meds and him being dehydrated. They decided to keep him in the hospital for observation after the fall. While there they are treating him for a cold and some very infected teeth.
Good news is that the petscan did show NO NEW CANCER ACTIVITY! So looks like his cancer is responding to treatment but he still has a very long way to go. That's all the updates I have for now.
Please share this GoFundMe campaign within your social networks. Thank you and God bless.
