I cannot believe we are here. Asking for prayers, help, and miracles. My daughter Skyler had a bad seizure and was rushed to the hospital. She has been diagnosed with Moyamoya a rare brain disease. Skyler is a young mother of a beautiful 2-year-old with all the dreams of a young woman and mother. The doctors are working and testing to do all they can for her but this is going to be a long road. Right now the doctors are concerned about the risk of seizures, stroke and hemorrhaging. The possibilities include continued expensive testing for progress of the disease and possible brain surgery. We as Skyler's family are going to fight this with all we have as this is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, and mother. We are asking for any donation you can spare to help cover the cost of living expenses and medical until either she is cleared to work again or we can get something else going.
Moyamoya disease is a disease in which certain arteries in the brain are constricted. Blood flow is blocked by constriction and blood clots (thrombosis).[1] Collateral circulation develops around the blocked vessels to compensate for the blockage, but the collateral vessels are small, weak, and prone to bleeding, aneurysm, and thrombosis. On conventional MR angiography, these collateral vessels have the appearance of a "puff of smoke" (described as "もやもや (moyamoya)" in Japanese).[1]
