Hi family and friends, I have been given the amazing opportunity to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference in Washington, d.c. this July. At the 6-day long conference, I will be meeting with some of the nation’s most notable journalists and political figures. I was selected to attend this conference based on my academic achievements and interest in the field of Journalism. I will be representing my school and the state of California as a National Youth Media Correspondent. Being given this opportunity is not only an honor but a big step closer to achieving my dreams. At the age of 7, I fell in love with writing. English became my favorite subject in school. I loved watching the 6 ‘o clock news and I’d wake up extra early on weekdays so I wouldn’t miss a second of the Today Show. I loved the stories that were told by the strong, intelligent female news anchors and dreamt of one day being just like them. Attending the Washington Journalism and Media Conference is the beginning of a dream come true for me. I am so thankful for this opportunity. The tuition for the event is $2150. This covers my stay in a dorm at George Mason University, where the conference is taking place, and all of the other aspects of this experience.
