Eight years ago the athletic trainers in BVSD wanted to do something to help athletes who were injured playing their sport but could not afford the cost of health care. We brainstormed and came up with a basketball tournament and named it BVSD MAY MADNESS! Over the years it has morphed into what one player has called "the beautiful monster". It has been hugely successful and very competitive. Past and present college players, players who play professionally oversees and even NBA players have participated! We have become somewhat stagnant in our sponsorship dollars with the same people donating year after year (WHICH WE APPRECIATE BEYOND MEASURE!) We hope this reaches more people who want to help offset the cost of running the tournament and ultimately increase the amount of money available to BVSD athletes who cannot afford healthcare. All donations are tax deductible, and anything helps! As one family from Boulder High who benefited from the tournament said, "The money raised from the tournament was invaluable to us! This year we were between jobs and found ourselves without healthcare for a period of time. Unfortunate during this time our son broke his hand playing basketball and was in need of medical attention. The money raised from the tournament allowed our son to get treatment immediately. We were able to see great doctors at CU Sports Medicine. Shannon set everything up so that when we arrived at CU they knew who we were and took care of us in a quick, compassionate and professional manner! This tournament and the money it raises is one of the great things about Boulder High. Thank you to everyone that donate and participate".
