Late last year our beautiful friend Jo found a lump in her breast that has changed her and her families life in ways they could never have predicted. It was 2.7cm when they found it . By the time The lump was removed 6 weeks later it was 6 cm and stage 3 cancer. It had already spread to her nearby lymph nodes and 20 lymph nodes were removed along with her breast . She is now undergoing 6 months of hardcore chemo therapy. Jo must 6 undergo fortnightly treatments then weekly treatments which leave her disgustingly ill for days, only to recover in time to start again. Cancer changes everything for everyone in the family. Jo is facing this challenge with her natural positivity and strength but her 3 children have also had to adjust to this new life. Jo is a mother to Ty, Taela and Tikira and is determined her illness and treatment will not affect their well-being. In Australia we are very fortunate that our health system provides much of the required cancer treatment free of charge but it doesn't compensate for transport costs, loss of income and the increased toll it takes just to function day to day. I know we live in an amazing little community that always rally s together to help those in need, so I m putting out a challenge for us to help Jo and her family. I am pledging to shave my head if we make the goal of $6,000 which represents $1,000 for each of the 6 months of initial treatment.
