Matt in a few words: Charismatic. Adventurous. Unstoppable.

I first came across Matt from following his social media profiles and what I saw was a man in love with life. I was completely taken by his views on health and his perspective on living.
Coming from a background of battling severe depression and suicidal ideation, Matt has spent years struggling to find his place in life and learning what he could offer the world.
In 2019 Matt’s life was affected drastically by the sudden death of his brother-in-law, Dan, who lost his life in a tragic and fatal accident. Dan was survived by his wife and three young children, Reese, Presly, Grayson.

Dan was Matt’s biggest and best supporter. Dan was a very active man and brought adventure to his children every chance he had.
He took his children and family to the ocean to teach them surfing, and then he took them to the mountains and dunes to show them dirt biking and desert land. Dan wanted to uncover mysteries with his children, but his life was taken much too soon.
In honor of Dan, Matt vowed to continue showing Reese, Presley, and Grayson the world. Matt aims to give them access to the adventurous lifestyle their father had instilled in them while he was still alive, and he takes his responsibility to his nieces and nephew seriously.
This inspired Matt to create Salt 2 Snow, a budding company that he plans to use to share his love and need for adventure with his family. It is also a mindset that views every day as an opportunity to celebrate living and making wholesome decisions that do not enslave or affect physical freedom.
Matt focuses all his energy on staying clean from past drug use that he had fallen victim to while he was still struggling to cope with his mental health setbacks. Matt is now clean and sober.
For Grayson’s eighth birthday, Matt knew the perfect gift would be quality time in the mountains, teaching his nephew to do something he has nearly 20 years of experience doing: snowboarding. It was the ultimate gift!

Unfortunately, the unthinkable happened on the second day of the fun-filled trip.
Matt shattered his leg while landing a backflip, a move he had conducted hundreds of times previously on the same mountain over years of visiting Bear Snow Summit Ski Resort.
Matt stayed calmed and was able to get himself medical attention, but the break was compound in two locations—and he was in pain! An initial surgery was conducted to attach an external fixator to his let and set his foot and ankle bones.
He now has a device screwed into his leg. He will still need another surgery to remove bone fragments, but the swelling needs to subside before the bones can be set properly to heal.

Matt took this photo soon after the first surgery to attach the external fixator to his leg. The device keeps his foot and leg bones in their proper place while his medical team waits for the swelling to subside.

Matt is now discharged and at home but is facing new adjustments and challenges with his Salt 2 Snow dream. He still desires to create a movement for young children and adults, but he won’t be able to do it without help from friends and family, and people like you who are drawn to help.
Matt won’t let the injury keep him from being present to his nieces and nephew. He plans to come out of recovery stronger than ever mentally, physically, and emotionally, but he needs YOUR help. If this story of dedication, strength, and focus touches your soul, consider donating to help Matt recover from the injury and keep Salt 2 Snow alive.
Your donation will help Matt chart a viable future for Salt 2 Snow, a company he is founding that’ll aim to entertain, educate, and inspire other young children without access or knowledge to extreme sports.
Adventure in the natural elements helped Matt find his calling and purpose. It also keeps him clean, living and walking in his natural gifts and abilities. Salt 2 Snow is a way for Matt to share his passion, life, and knowledge with you and the world!
While Matt is pushing fundraising for Salt 2 Snow and his recovery, he's also looking for ways to collaborate and connect with the following while he starts his healing journey:
Physical therapists
Physical trainers
Sport medicine
Adaptive sports
Nutritionists
Yoga teachers
