Tylor's recovery and flights

One of my beat friends, Tylor, had a very unfortunate accident yesterday September 13th. After a day filled with great memories and new experiences riding through the mountains of British Columbia, he failed to maneuver what he didn't realize what a sharp corner. Tylor along with his ATV left the roadway and went down over a small embankment landing in a mess of fallen trees and high tree stumps. He was Taken to Terrace hospital where he was held for overnight and is being transported to a hospital in Vancouver for spinal surgery to repair a fracture in his largest vertebra in lower neck.

The full story is as follows.
We were out for a ride on our ATV's all day yesterday and on the way back down the forest service road I looked back one second and Tylor was right behind me I took the corner and looked back less than a minute later and he was not there. Alex and I turned around after I had a gut feeling something was not right and began to look for Ty. After driving about a KM back up the road I saw the quad that he was on down in the ditch. He failed to maneuver the corner and slid off of the road into a bunch of trees and stumps. We managed to get him out of the ditch and onto the shoulder of the road at which point we determined that his injuries were too severe to transport him on the back of my quad. Alex stayed with him to keep him safe and calm as I flew down the forest service road back to the truck. He wrecked at KM 49 and the truck was parked at KM 3 so it was quite the distance. I was looking for anyone close to their vehicles but they were all nowhere to be found until I came across a fella driving up at which point I stopped him and as calmy as possible explained the situation and asked if he could go get Tylor in his truck and start driving down to meet me at some point on the road. I made it to the truck and proceeded back up as quickly as possible to meet them, as I arrived Tylor was still laying in the same place but had been wrapped up in sweaters, blankets and anything available to keep him warm. It turns out that even in the worst times, Tylor has someone watching over him. I say this because the gentleman that I just so happened to stop turned out to be a top-ranking trauma doctor at the Terrace hospital. He determined that Tylor's injuries were far too severe to be transported down the road in a truck at which point he, thankfully, used his satellite phone to call an ambulance. We got him secured and in the ambulance, off he went for a very slow drive down the mountain. Now to this morning. September 14. They performed an MRI ( I believe) on his neck and back and determined that he fractured the largest vertebra in his lower neck. The results of these scans were sent to Vancouver and the doctors down there recommend surgery. He is now about to be airlifted from Terrace hospital to Vancouver general at which point they will make a final decision as to whether surgery is required or not. They have given him, possibly, 2 options and those are that he either wears a neck brace for the next 6-8 months or he has spinal surgery to place, I believe, 2 pins in his neck to help the fracture heal. At this point, this is every detail from yesterday until this very moment. I know it was long-winded but I did not want to leave anything out.

Tylor has a heart of gold and would give the shirt off of his back to help a total stranger. We are asking for help because..

Tylor recently moved from Ontario, Canada out here to BC and was living with myself (Nick), my wife and our other lifelong friend Alexey while he got his feet on the ground out here. He had just been accepted for a job on the LNG Canada project here in Kitimat and had been working on his tickets required to gain access to site when we decided to take a day off of studying and for a ATV ride. He is now being airlifted to Vancouver and once his surgery is complete and he is released from the hospital he will have to foot the bill to get back up here. We know that Tylor has a long road ahead of him and we are not sure how long he will be in the hospital in Vancouver for. Our goal is to ease the financial burden for him once he is released. We would also like to raise enough money to fly his Mother, who is Tylors rock and his #1 cheerleader, out here to be with her son in such a scary situation. Unfortunately he hadn't even begun working yet and his journey of life in BC is only just beginning.

Anything you can afford

I am not asking for to stretch yourself thin to help, all I am asking for is what you can afford. At this point every single dollar helps to ensure we ease the stress and anxiety for Tylor and his family at this time. Our goal is set at $5,000 as I believe this will provide enough money to cover a flight for his mother to BC and back, a flight for Tylor to get home, and any other possible bills that arise from this unforeseen accident.
