Many of you know my best friend Gina. We’re more like sisters. She drives me crazy and I want to kick her ass sometimes but I’m doing this because I love her and this is the time I need everyone to come together for our girl.
Gina has been a single mom to her 5 year old daughter Ava for two years and a full time single mom for almost a year now. She won the battle in a draining divorce this year that cost her and her family thousands upon thousands of dollars in attorneys fees with little to no support from Ava’s father.
Little did she know at age 31 On September 9th 2019 her world would be turned upside down and now be fighting the biggest battle of her life when she was diagnosed with stage 2B invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer. Just over a month later after her 2nd round of scans and her 2nd round of chemo they found lesions on her hip. Unfortunately the biopsy results were not in her favor and Gina became a stage 4 metastatic breast cancer patient. Midway through treatment after another round of scans yet again more bad news as the scans reveal new lesions now on her spine.
With the news of the lesions on her spine she started the new patient process for MD Anderson cancer center in Houston and we are happy to hear and say that they accepted her case! Unfortunately they are booked until March but she is on the cancellation list and we have our fingers crossed .
I’ve known Gina for 12 years and I know how stubborn and prideful she can be. Which is why I’m asking for your help. Gina has been working as much as she can while going through treatment but paid time off gets used up fast with her weekly appointments. Her insurance deductible started over in January and although I’m sure she will meet it fast that’s still money up front.
Gina is anticipating multiple surgeries on different parts of her body at different times within months coming up Meaning more time off of work and More recovery time. After surgery is endocrine and radiation therapy along with a lifetime of medications. She has still a very long road ahead of her but as we’ve all seen she continues to surprise us with her positive attitude and her will to never give up this fight. She’s out living her life and I couldn’t be more proud of her.
My goal with this is to hopefully take some of the stress off of her and her parents who have been so supportive and amazing and come together so she doesn’t have to worry about those co pays, medications, travel expenses, or hospital bills. Literally anything helps and anything is appreciated. I ask for your prayers, positive vibes, and if you’re able, a financial donation. Thank you all In advance for your support...Let’s help our girl overcome this obstacle that has been thrown her way. Much love.
