Hello my name is Caroline Nino Woods and I am married to Garry Woods of Visalia and Tulare also known as "The Rib Guy". Almost 50 years ago as a child Garry had Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. With the help of St. Jude he was treated and lived in Stanford Hospital for 8 months with his mother. Meanwhile his siblings stayed home with family. Chemotherapy and radiation has left his body with many scars and much more issues to deal with. After his treatment he returned to Stanford to fix an intestinal blockage and another surgery. As an adult and as a result of his treatment he has an enlarged heart which now has an I.C.D. in it, and his heart is at 43%. Yahoo! There was a time his heart was at 10%. Before the I.C.D. he had his left kidney removed because it was dead. This may be due to chemotherapy and radiation of 50 years ago. In November of 2018 he had a mild stroke. We caught this very quickly which was a miracle! At the end of October 2019 Garry fainted from an intestinal bleed. He spent 2 weeks at our local hospital and found out the fight is on, again. Garry was refered to Stanford Hospital for their expertise. Thank you Jesus! On December 17, 2019 Garry had intestinal surgery to get a cancerous mass out. The Dr.'s had to remove two hours of scar tissue before they could preform the intended surgery. We stayed in Stanford Hospital 15 days. Oh! And did I say that he was told he could not have children. He has two! We spent Christmas away from our kids and family, this was painful and lonely. Our boys, Garry and Gabriel have made us very proud though this very hard time. I have been off work since November to take care of my husband. He is healing slowly. Having to count on others while we were away was an experience I will never forget. I felt helpless many times but I never lost hope. This has been a very scary road to walk for both Garry and I. My husband is a prideful man, and a very hard worker and is disabled. He has been a wonderful provider for us, his family while I have worked fulltime as well. But we never imagined all the financial costs involved with fighting this battle. It has been extremely emotionally, financially overwhelming and so humbling to be in the position we are in, where we need to ask for help. We know God will provide! But after much encouragement from family and friends to do a GoFundMe, we decided to do it and leave it in Gods' hands. It's time get off our knees and start facing the bills and expenses we have incurred. Soon I am sure we will have to return to Stanford for a post op. appointment. Thank you to everyone willing to help with prayers and financial support.
