Lisa’s Fight Against Epilepsy

Donation protected
I’ve had epilepsy since I was 14 and since have had countless seizures. Some in public and some all alone. I’ve been on different medications and dosages throughout the years. I’ve woken up in an ambulance and ER multiple times. Each time just as frightening and confusing as the others. Having a seizure is exhausting, embarrassing, scary and can be painful. I used to be hesitant to tell people about my epilepsy, but it is a part of me and I’ve learned it’s nothing to be ashamed of. Starting the beginning of 2019 I decided to go down this crazy journey to find out if I’m a candidate for surgery to significantly reduce my seizures or be completely be seizure free. It started with many CT scans and MRIs. In April I was in the hospital for a week undergoing EEG testing. Then in December I had a stereo EEG where 12 depth electrodes were implanted in my brain for more testing that lasted about two weeks. The doctors have decided that a resection of the misfiring area in my brain is the best course of action. All of this is very costly and I’ll have to take a lot of time off work on top of the time I’ve already taken off. Any amount is very helpful as I go through all of this. I’m thankful for any contribution or any positive energy, thoughts or prayers.
