Hi All! I’m here reaching out to my community of friends, associates, and even fans (if those exist) to help me out with having my car repaired or maybe even replaced. On 1/9/20, I was on my way to take my daughter to school before going to work when I heard a thud in my engine at star-up. It immediately shut down and wouldn’t restart. I hopped out and looked underneath to find a rather large puddle of oil forming. I had it towed to my mechanic at Nick’s Auto Repair (the best) only to find out the worst...my timing chain had jumped and broken...effectively killing my engine!!! I was then informed that it would need to be totally replaced and would cost me $3000 installed!!! This normally wouldn’t have been such a devastating blow, but...I am currently the only income in my home for my family of 7 (since October...a whole other story), and have been financially stretched to the limits. I can’t work or gig (for those who don’t know, I do music for a living) without a car. I had the transmission totally rebuilt in my car, a 2005 Honda CR-V, about 20k miles ago, and having a new engine should put me in pretty good shape for the foreseeable future. We can’t really afford another car payment right now and I we just can’t make it all work with just my wife’s vehicle. So, here I am I’m asking for help. This isn’t easy for me. I pride myself on being self sufficient and being the one lending a hand...not needing one. But, a a friend said to me...if folks can use GoFundMe for things like, recording a record, to fund traveling abroad, or even going to Burning Man...I shouldn’t let pride stop me for using it for this.
