Richard Hudak Heart Complications

Dear Family, Friends, Loved Ones, Coworkers, & Beyond –

If you are reading this, first and foremost, we extend our sincerest gratitude to YOU for taking the time to hear our story and support our needs. THANK YOU for blessing our family with your love and kindness.

For those of you that know our family personally, you surely can attest to this request and approach being out of character. However, we surrender ourselves, accepting what is, in hopes without fear of judgement in return. Naturally, we tend to keep our personal life as private as we can – especially when it pertains to our finances, but it is time that we humble ourselves, fall to our knees in prayer, and reach out for support both emotionally and financially. Unfortunately, we may not be able to provide for our family in this desperate time of need as easily as one may be quick to assume that we could.

As most of you may know, our Dad, Richard Hudak, was recently diagnosed with severe congestive heart failure on Saturday, December 21st, 2019 and has since been in the hospital for two weeks to date. On New Year’s Eve, our Dad underwent critical Open-Heart Surgery, ringing in the New Year (with what we thought would be) a better pumping heart. He was supposed to get a quadruple bypass, and although a successful surgery, he only came out with a double bypass. Two out of the four arteries are completely diseased and cannot be replaced, as a result from a massive heart attack at some point in the recent past. Unbeknownst to us, our father’s heart was pumping at a low 23% rate, and post-op remains low at 30%. Our Dad has been in and out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as they closely monitor his low-pumping percentage, kidneys, oxygen intake, and diabetic insulin & blood pressure numbers. Prior to discharge, Dad must be fitted for a life vest before possibly needing another surgery for an implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD); another two medical needs we are unsure medical insurance will cover.

Prior to all of this, our Dad was not feeling well for several weeks, accomplishing the bare minimum work during his weekdays. As our father is a self-employed sole practitioner, he lost the opportunity to obtain normal disability insurance that most employees can receive, and due to his declining health through the years he was not able to receive it privately. You can only imagine the income he has lost in the weeks prior and will continue to lose looking ahead. This will greatly impact his ability to cover medical bills outstanding, as well as copays, insurances, and other such expenses. Our Mom works part time but must keep her time devoted to helping our father heal and recover, especially when he comes home because he will have limited normal mobility due to his weak heart and his normal working hours will also be reduced as an extensive surgery like this will take time to regain his normal level of energy to produce income. Our Dad has done so much pro bono work to help others, and now we are hoping that others will help him in return.

We do not know what his future holds, but the less stress for him and our family to meet the needs will ultimately bring an overwhelmingly amount of peace to mind and heart. Although not expected, any donation goes a long way and would be tremendously appreciated.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Love,

The Hudak Family
