Ken Kozminski's Journey

On April 1, 2019 I was diagnosed with stage 4 Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma (UTUC). A fancy name for a unique type of Kidney Cancer. Each day is a personal fight as I battle this terrible disease. As a competitor, I will always continue to fight. And as a friend of mine and someone whom I have participated in Spartan races with said, “Embrace the suck and fight like hell”. I am attempting to do just that.
I continue to move forward with a positive attitude and a strong faith. I seek every means to control and beat this cancer. I have explored alternative treatments and supplements, along with multiple surgeries and frequent hospital visits. I’m currently in my second phase of chemotherapy treatment and recently, a stint was surgically placed in my ureter to maintain kidney function until the affected tumors can hopefully be removed.
Cancer affects all aspects of your life from relationships, to emotions, to career, to diet, to financial. Nothing goes untouched. Even with insurance, co-pays and non-covered treatments are a substantial expense. I wish I did not need to request support from my friends and family to help cover some of these costs, but it has become painfully clear I cannot do this alone. I’m not sure anyone can. Your generous gift will help defray some of these costs and relieve the financial stress I find myself under.
The American Cancer Society says there are 358 different types of cancer. Each type is so personal to the individual that has it. It’s different for everyone. To read more about my journey please visit https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kenkozminskisjourney I will be providing updates to my CaringBridge as often as possible.
Thank you for considering a donation to help me continue this fight! And as always, prayers are also welcomed!
