Dads Cancer Medical Bill Assistance
Donation protected
Hi everyone I decided to start a GoFundMe page in hopes to help my dad pay for his medical bills and medical equipment that he needs. Around 5 years ago my dad was diagnosed with stage 2 Cancer on his tongue, and of course the entire family was worried about him, and the trials he would have to endure. He went through the whole chemo thing and the tumor had shrunk and it looked like he was in the clear. He did suffer some radiation damage in his Thyroid Gland which according to the doctor is the engine that gives him energy to do the things he needs to do. But despite that my dad endured it and still worked full time at one job and part time at another job to pay for his medical bills that piled up while he wasn't able to work during chemotherapy and what his insurance didn't pay for.
Unfortunately in January of 2019 when he went for his regular check-up they noticed the cancer had come back and had advanced to stage 4 and that he should seek options as soon as possible. We went to multiple doctor's and different surgeons only to be recommend that they cut out his tongue. My dad didn't want that so he patiently waited and searched for different options only to find a new chemo treatment that they were doing in Texas. So my dad's doctor recommended we do that, and according to them he has about 50/50 or less chance.
Since my dad started his 2nd round of chemo in December he has had some complications in the process. He has had to visit the ER at least 4-5 times with in the past month of December because he was having trouble breathing. He had to get a tracheotomy surgery to help him breathe. He is in constant pain and is unable to walk long distances.
This GoFundMe page was started because in my dad's current condition he is no longer able to work. He now receives disability from his SS to help him pay for his bills, but that currently is not enough to pay everyday bills and his medical bills which are piling up. He has yet to receive the bills from the hospital for his 4-5 ER visits and 2 weeks staying in the Hospital. There is also all the medications my dad has to take to help with the pain along with all the material needed for his constant care like his food, he is unable to eat solid food so he was put on a feeding tube so he doesn't starve (he's already lost 50 lbs since being diagnosed). He also has equipment that he is renting out to help him breathe better.
My dad is the type that will never ask for a handout, he's one of those people that will work 60 hour weeks before asking for help. But he is currently unable to work or stand for 1 hour before feeling exhausted. If you don't feel like donating that's fine I won't force you ◉‿◉ but I do ask that if you can share this page with people and offer some prayers that would help my dad a lot.
