I’m Priscilla, and this is my boy Denver. Denver has been battling an illness that the vets could not pinpoint and I am struggling to keep up with the vet bills. The last 6 months he has been through a lot from a bunch of different bloodwork being done, chronic nose bleeds, has been diagnosed with a hypothyroidism, xrays and ultrasounds have been done, and more that cost me thousands of dollars already trying to figure out what is actually wrong with him. We finally were pointed in the right direction last week when we were told to go to Santa Barbara to see a specialist. We did more tests(that bill was over $1000 alone) and finally got an answer, at first we were told it was most likely cancer and I completely lost it and lost hope, but with more tests he has officially been diagnosed with a severe case of of cushings disease. This type of disease means most likely he has a tumor on the pituitary gland of his brain that affects his adrenal glands and he will be on more medication then he already is(an extra $200 a month for cushings meds on top of thyroid and dysplasia meds) he will continue to have bloodwork done every few weeks so we can monitor his medication intake and figure out the right dosage he needs to be on the rest of his life. This doesn’t necessarily and unfortunately rule out cancer, so if the nose bleeds continue I’ll have to go back to the specialist in Santa Barbara to get a CT scan done of his head, but I have a lot more hope now.
