“ BAGS OF JOY” - Essentials For The Homeless.

My Name is Damon Rusignola, a husband of eleven years, a father to three wonderful children, Sienna 10, Dante’ 8 and Farrah 5. I am also a devoted Christian with the belief of helping the less fortunate. Being in the Christmas spirit, my eldest daughter Sienna came to me and said, “Daddy, can we give food and clothes to the homeless”. I can honestly say, this is something I always wanted to do however I was always” too busy”. When Sienna came to me and asked, I looked at her and said,” yes honey, I promise”. Our journey began from there. Our family had gone to the Dollar Store and purchased over shoulder string bags and filled them with all the daily essentials, from scarves, socks and hats to q-tips, mouthwash, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, soap, cough drops, tissues, sanitizer, wash clothes, a mana cure set, combs, brushes, baby powder, razors and so much more!!! The cost for each filled bag was roughly $42.00. We then drove to some areas I know of which homeless people call home. We drove under bridges, vacant lots, trucking yards, parks and shelters. There are so many people in need and it really “ tugged on our heartstrings” which is causing me to start this fundraiser page. Our goal is to create at least 100 of these bags and distribute them to our local communities and eventually branch out to areas of Manhattan. Please, whatever you can donate would be greatly appreciated and if you can pass this information on to your friends and family, that would be great.
