A Promise - Help us help Diomar

Donation protected
We love you Diomar.

This all begins and began with a promise. A promise between three brothers. When my older brother and I left for the military, we promised our younger brother Diomar that we would never let him down and that we would do our best from wherever we were, to help him with anything. We would always be there for him. We grew up very close to each other and always were there for one another. Being raised in Cleveland was tough, but along with our parents we found a way through. None of us ever got into any major trouble and all graduated high school.

He graduated high school with a welding certification and went on to be a welder. His entire life was devoted to his family, protecting them and making them feel more secure. He loved and played basketball every day. He loved making people laugh, and he was good at it. Always smiling no matter what the circumstance. His dream was public service. He wanted to either join the military or become a police officer. He had actually began his application for the Cleveland Police a few days before this tragedy.

On November 16, 2019, at 21 years old he encountered the biggest obstacle that  no one on this earth should ever have to encounter. After not feeling well and having some alarming symptoms he went to the hospital. Since that night, my brother that I grew up with, played sports with, the brother I that I taught to roller skate and layup a basketball, has been unable to move, unable to eat, and unable to breathe on his own.

Two months later, three hospitals later, over a million dollars in bills and many tears later, my brother was finally diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM). AFM is a very rare but serious neurological disease with no cure. It affects the spinal cord and movement of the muscles. The prognosis isn't great but we've seen very small improvements and we continue to pray.

We are asking for help in order to cover his financial obligations such as his monthly bills, and also at least a small portion of his medical bills which now exceed an amount which we cannot obtain through conventional means. This will ensure that his bills are up to date and gives him the chance of making those dreams come true. No donation is too small.  Our family thanks you.

Diomar we love you and are praying every single day. We know you are tired, but continue fighting. We know you will.
