The Gift Of Quality Of Life For Delia Adrales

Delia Adrales is the mother of my dearest friend Arlene Adrales. I consider her my mommy here in the United States. She is a loving wife, mother and proud grandma to two beautiful granddaughters. She is a very hardworking person, balancing work, home life and church. She extends her home to us always and she is one of the most selfless persons I’ve ever known. Earlier this year she was diagnosed with meningioma which impinged on her facial nerve causing partial facial paralysis and nerve pain. The doctors performed surgery to remove the benign tumor on August 16. She was expected to recover well but complications of brain edema occurred during surgery. Additional surgeries followed - craniotomy, vp shunt, tracheostomy, and gastric tube. She stayed in the ICU for a month and was transferred to a skilled nursing facility when her vitals stabilized. Currently, she is diagnosed with hydrocephalus as a complication of the meningioma surgery. Her levels of alertness varies throughout the day, and she is currently still unable to sit and breathe on her own. Her current medical insurance is not able to cover long term care in the nursing home and she will be sent home this Tuesday. Now that she would be home bound, she would require durable medical equipment not covered by insurance, oxygen, diapers, gloves, diabetic and feeding supplies, etc. and access to home health attendant. It’s a long journey to recovery, as it is a struggle to get the most from her current health coverage. At this time, she doesn’t qualify for Medicaid or Medicare making it more difficult to navigate the health care system to fund for her current needs. I am asking for your assistance in helping Tita Del and her family to ease some of burden by providing financial assistance in any amount.
