On August 28, 2019, my husband Luis Almendarez was found unconscious by our two youngest children. While that was their scariest moment up to today, it seems the nightmare isn't over. It's been almost four months,. And just when things were getting a bit better, tragedy happened again. His shunt (which was planted in his brain to keep him alive) got infected, which initially gave him symptoms of another stroke, except this time we acted just in time to take him the ER. He had surgery to remove the shunt and hose that were infected, and for the next two weeks he will be in ICU to fight the infection and eventually have a shunt placed again, all THESE while draining the blood that's accumulating in his head. . Emotionally, it's taking a toll on the family, no matter how together we feel. But add to the list of tolll, the economic one. Bills are overdue, rent is here, food is running low. We need all the help we can get. We were never raised to ask for money, but this is a tragedy we can't seem to end. Please help us devote our time, support, and love to Luis, as he NEEDS his family and myself for years.
