Lavell’s Going Home Service’s

Donation protected
UPDATE: On May 21 2020 Lavell passed away in the Er suddenly. I had no insurance for my son so if you can donate what you can it would be most appreciated. Thank you Hello, my name is Jameka Simion, mother of 4. My second oldest, Lavell Smith who is 21 years old, was hit by a pickup truck 2 months ago, on October 4th, walking home on the second day of his new job. Unfortunately, Lavell's injuries were critical. The pick-up truck was driving extremely fast to the point where Lavell flew 120ft in the air, fell facedown in the orchids on the side of the road and busted the driver’s radiator to the truck. When the ambulance arrived, they weren’t able to find him right away but once they did, he was transported to Fresno Community Hospital in a helicopter because of the distance. This unfortunate incident happened in Parlier, CA around 11:45p.m. When I first arrived at the hospital, there was a social worker that informed me on all of the injuries Lavell sustained. He has brain damage, his neck was broken as well as his left leg and his spinal cord was injured. His lungs collapsed and he also had some internal bleeding in the brain due to the impact of the hit. In the hospital, Lavell was put on a ventilator to help with his breathing. Then he was switched to the ECMO(Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) machine, which is meant to help more than the ventilator did and it's basically dialysis for his lungs. Now, awhile after the ECMO machine was repairing his lungs, they started to remove the chest tubes because his lungs were improving substantially. After the surgeries for his other injuries and from just being on the ECMO machine, he was able to breathe on his own. It would only be for a certain amount of time, but it was progress, great news for the family and I. It is now Tuesday, the 10th of December and my son was released from the hospital and transferred to a rehab facility in Palm Springs on Sunday, the 8th of December. The entire time Lavell was at the hospital, I was there with him. I only left the hospital to go home shower and then I’m right back up there with him. The issue now is the distance. I do not have my own set of transportation to go and see him now that he is at a rehab facility in Palm Springs. So I am here to ask for donations for my travels along with a place to stay so that I am able to be there for him whenever he needs. It hurts me that he’s up there all by himself right now. I need to be there for my son. So please, if you can, donate so that I can be with him. Every dollar counts.Thank you and god bless you.
