Rescue The Underdog/ Help Us save shelter dogs!

Rescue the Underdog is a small, volunteer-run organization that saves dogs from being euthanized in high kill shelters. Most of the dogs are rescued from the Central Valley, often hours before being put down. Some are strays, some are surrendered simply because they are “old”. Rescue the Underdog tries to save as many dogs as we can, with our goal being to save them all. We take dogs that no other rescue will take. So we end up with unpopular breeds, older dogs, dogs who need special and urgent medical care, or dogs who need to be socialized. Some of our dogs come with broken bones, hit by a car or suffered other traumatic injury that was not treated. We do everything we can to save them all and place them in loving foster homes, eventually to be adopted into forever homes. Our dogs are special, and many of them need adopters who will give them time to adjust and feel safe in their loving new homes. Our reward is in saving these precious lives and seeing the joy that we bring to people's lives when they find their perfect match in an Underdog. There is no greater joy than to see an underdog's transformation, from the time they are pulled from the shelter to when they are adopted by a loving family. If you’d like to help, you can volunteer, foster, adopt, and of course, donate. Monetary donations are essential to our rescue which is overwhelmed by never ending vet bills. Donations and adoption fees that are shared with our partner FMAS are our only source of revenue. But more often than not our volunteers are paying out of their own pocket, because we can't bear to see our dogs go without the medical care they need. Our fosters pay for dog food, bedding, treats, and other supplies out-of-pocket as well. Donations go entirely and directly to cover the special medical care that our dogs need. Vet bills are gladly communicated upon request. We would not be able to continue operating without your support and generosity.
