Hello, my name is Emery and I am a 20 year old transgender man, and a full time college student who recently transferred from Reed to Portland State. After what has felt like an eternity of waiting, I am finally scheduled to have my top surgery on January 3, 2020! While words can not describe my excitement for this truly necessary and affirming life change, I will be left with a ~$4000 bill that I simply cannot pay. My mother has expressed a strong desire to help/cover the surgery cost, but she just does not have the resources, especially in the context of our family’s other very costly medical needs. It’s incredibly frustrating to know how close I am to reaching alignment between my internal experience and my body, but to be held back by a lack of money. I’m hoping to crowdfund as much of the surgery cost as possible, so any and all donations (even just $1) are *greatly* appreciated.
