Diagnosed With Acute myeloid Leukemia On August 13
Hello, my name is Jesus but everyone calls me Jessie. My life was turned upside down on August 13th 2019 when I was diagnosed with A.M.L. (acute myeloid Leukemia). I started having different symptoms every day for 4 days and that's when I made an appointment to see my Dr. He sent me to get lab work and ct scans to see what was going on. When my lab work came back he called me and told me I needed to get to the E.R. right away. He didnt tell me why but I knew after hearing him say that it wasn't going to be good. After all the tests at the hospital were done the Dr. Came in the room and told me that my WBC (Whitebloodcount) was at 147k which they see in patients with Leukemia. I knew something was wrong when I went but I was not ready to hear that I had cancer... I was devastated and broke down. I started calling my family to give them the news but I couldn't even talk or stop crying. The nurse had to get on the phone and talk for me. After my first bone marrow biopsy I was told I had 80% Leukemia in my bones and that's why my WBC was so high because they were trying to fight off an illness. I am not working at this time because I've been in and out of the hospital. I had to close my pension accounts to pay bills and I paid my vehicle off. I was glad I was able to do that But now the money's all gone and the bills and medications are stacking up. The good news is that I'm heading into remission. The yucky news is that I have to finish all my rounds of Chemo and won't be done with that until April. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my story and appreciate all the help I can get. Sincerely Jessie V.
