I've been a truck driver and lease operator for over a decade. I finally took the plunge and bought my first truck. On the very first load, my truck broke down because the fuel stopped getting to the motor. I spent two days stranded on the side of the road until I was able to get a wrecker to tow me to a shop. They got it fixed within twenty-four hours. Three days later, I broke down again. Towed to a shop again. Monday, they looked at it and found the fuel system was contaminated. I couldn’t even get two loads completed since the truck was registered. Less than 3,000 miles altogether. Today, I received a repair estimate of $20,995. I’ve already dropped all my savings into getting this truck, getting it registered, and paying tow bills and hotel stays. Now I’m waiting to see if the dealership I bought the truck from and the previous shop are going to cover any of the repairs because algae has built up from the tanks all the way into the engine. I’m already pinched with remaining bills for the month and bills are already going to start falling behind soon. I’m just trying to get past this massive repair so that my dream of owning a truck doesn’t end before it has really even started.
It has been really stressful these last couple of days, especially in the last week. I left the house for my first load on the 12th and haven’t been home since. I’m trying to stay positive, but every turn makes the stress increase. Any help is appreciated, though I’m not sure this is really going to work.
