Raising Money to Help Cover Prototype Costs

Dear family and friends, I have created this fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of my watch prototypes. My goal is to raise $2,500. The donated money will be used to create the necessary molds needed for mass production and will cover the cost of 6 fully working prototype units. With your support, I will get the head start I need to turn my passion into a career.   About two years ago, I fell in love with the hobby of collecting watches, and since then, I’ve been completely obsessed with the idea of one day creating my own watch brand. For the better part of the past year, I have been creating my own designs and communicating with several manufacturers. After spending many months in back and forth communication, I have gained a vast understanding of what is needed to bring a new watch and brand to market. The brand I have created is called Seaker Watches and its mission is to offer adventure-driven tool watches at an affordable price. These watches will be made with some of the most durable materials used in watchmaking today; from hardened coated surgical grade stainless steel to a sapphire crystal. With the use of gaskets inside the screw-down crown and case back, my watches will achieve a water resistance rating of 200 meters, enabling you to swim with the watch without worry. Within the short amount of time that I have had my Seaker Watches social media accounts, I have received many inquiries for collaborations from Instagram account holders with tens of thousands of followers. More recently, I have been in contact with one of my favorite watch reviewers on YouTube who has over 100,000 subscribers, and he is willing to review my watch on his channel. As soon as prototypes are completed, I will choose three reviewers to send a watch and help me build my brand identity. I will spend a couple of months marketing my prototyped watches on Seaker’s social media accounts. Once I amass a large enough following behind my brand, I will create a Kickstarter campaign where customers will be able to purchase my watch at a limited-time discount. Those watch purchases will help fund the mass production costs. Crowdfunding has proven to be a very successful way of raising production costs for many other new watch brands like mine. One benefit of using Kickstarter’s free crowdfunding platform is if I don’t reach my campaign’s goal before the deadline, my project will not be funded.
