Dear Friends and Family of Greg: Welcome to our CaringBridge website! We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
On September 28, Greg suffered a heart attack, and doctors determined that he needed an immediate quintuple bypass. He struggled with complications afterwards, and was transferred to Barnes-Jewish Hospital to receive an increased level of care (https://www.barnesjewish.org/). Unfortunately, his heart has not recovered as well as we had hoped. He will now receive further intervention, and we are very hopeful that he will soon be feeling and doing much better!
On October 16th, Greg underwent surgery to receive a mechanical heart implant (LVAD). This device is a "bridge to transplant", and he will be on the waitlist for a heart transplant. Despite how overwhelming all of this is, Greg is generally in good spirits, making his visitors and nurses laugh, and keeping up with his fantasy football standings.
We are all so very appreciative of the well-wishes, prayers, visits, cards, and personal messages for Greg. We read him the Facebook messages, comments, and cards, and he always has a story to tell us about the well-wishers!
Please continue to check the journal updates here for further updates. Thank you all again for your support!!
