In 1994, I self-published "Pass those Cabrini Greens, Please!!" a poetic autobiography. One of the poems, "Upward Bound" reads:
"Those who cannot add, write, or read, surely cannot defend, follow, or lead, anyone at anytime. They are destined to be oppressed, exploited, and eventually destroyed by the void between their ears."
When I penned these words over two decades ago, I never imagined that I would be responsible for helping thousands of young people fill "the void between their ears." Well, for over three decades, I have served and/or touched the lives of thousands of young people and their families. On March 31, 2016 , I begin my 8th year as a College and Career Coach and during that time I have helped over 2,500 students. While serving in this capacity, I discovered "IT" my passion, the activity I intend to spend the remainder of my life being and doing, "Educating and Empowering young people."
While helping young people prepare for the ACT and other high stakes test, I developed methods and techniques that improve/increase their basic and essential skills.
So, in an effort to expand the scope of my work, I have decided to formalize my techniques, empower other educators/ mentors/ coaches, and offer my programs/services through a variety of sources.
That's where you come in! I need your help to lauch this venture, continue, and expand this work.
Your help will allow me to: increase the number of young people qualifying for college scholarships by improving their performance in school while increasing their test scores; increase high school and college graduation rates; help young people start their own businesses; and reduce the amount of student loan debt.
Your help with this project is greatly appreciated and I look forward to sharing the successes and challenges as I pursue my passion, "Educating and Empowering young people."
