#GIDYVR Still Talking Series is a small, grassroots event organization team. Our goal is to force a public conversation about, primarily, women’s sex-based rights and how gender identity ideology conflicts with these hard-won rights.
It is not easy to hold this conversation in the public sphere. We have organized two successful events -- and are preparing to hold our third -- despite continual attempts to shut us down and no-platform our speakers, most of whom are feminist women.
We have faced threats (sexual and violent); a legal battle; security fees; slander and libel; verbally abusive and threatening protestors; and much more. We persist despite the controversy and despite the struggle to speak.
We are not funded by any organization, institution, grant, or individual. All of our funding comes from ticket sales and fundraising. We consider ourselves lucky to break even on an event (and have invested our own money and time). Our goal, however, is to be able to pay our speakers for their efforts. It would also be ideal to lower our ticket costs to make our events more accessible.
Event fees include: venues; insurance; security (sometimes this is the bulk of our fees, and we face uncertainty over being handed excessive security bills at each event); travel and accommodation for our panelists; and the cost of supplies such as posters and advertising.
If you’re concerned about women’s sex-based rights, or freedom of expression and association, please consider helping us sustain our project. We are happy to share all of our costs with our donors in the spirit of transparency!
Thank you so much for your support,
Amy and Holly
