It has been a long year for my daughter and her family. Last year in October my daughter Taryn suffered a miscarriage. At the time they were heartbroken, but in February they found out they were pregnant again and were overjoyed at the news of a rainbow baby. 6 months into Taryn's pregnancy she lost her job. Taryn had prepared and saved to have the baby because she is the sole provider for her family. Her husband Zach was staying at home with their 2 year old son Brayden due to a back injury that he needs surgery for. All the planning in the world could not prepare them for the nightmare they were about to embark on. They lost their income, their insurance, and Taryn's paid leave. We were all distraught over what happened. Taryn felt she would never find nursing job 6 or 7 months pregnant, since her former employer told her they were letting her go because she was excited about her maternity leave and they didn't know if she would come back after the baby. It was a cruel and awful thing to do. She has spent countless hours filing for unemployment and appeals, and government aid to try to keep their heads above water. The stress was so great Taryn started to have complications with her pregnancy. Taryn did find a job, and the company has been a wonderful Godsend, but unfortunately after only being employed 1 month Taryn had been hospitalized 3 times with complications. Then on August 20th at 7 months pregnant Taryn went into the hospital for a non stress test and her placenta abrupted causing her to bleed out and have an emergency C-section. I almost lost my daughter and my beautiful granddaughter Isabell. Taryn spent 2 weeks in the hospital and Isabell spent 6 weeks in the NICU. At 32 weeks weighing 3 pounds and 6 ounces Isabell Ryan Duis was born. They are finally both recovering from this traumatic event, but it will still be at least a month before Taryn can return to her new job. Financially they have been decimated, and not sure how they will be able to pay their bills. As a family we have done as much as we can during this time and have decided to create this account to try and have 1 less thing for them to worry about.
