Connor
Voss, Rocky Point High School Senior, has been selected for the LeadAmerica
Presidential Inaugural Leadership Summit, in Washington D.C., January 18-22,
2013. During this 5-day conference, he and other Presidential Scholars will
hear from a variety of expert guest speakers and can select from nine workshops
focusing on three critical areas "“ National
Security, International Relations and Science & Technology. These Personal Action & Advocacy
workshops will center on the part he can play as a leader, as he develops a personalized leadership action plan
around an issue about which he feels passionately. He will evaluate his
strengths and set goals for maximizing his leadership potential.
Connor will attend programs where he will see and listen to top Congressional leaders, prominent national leaders, and Gen. Colin L. Powell, a former Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who will address the role of leadership in protecting our national and communal interests "” focusing on how Connor can build his future and shape his world. He will also get to tour selected Washington D.C. area monuments and attend an Inaugural Ball hosted by LeadAmerica. On day 4 of the conference, he will attend the Swearing in Ceremony on the National Mall, an opportunity of a lifetime!
