****************************************************
Elias Navida has been invited to proudly represent the United States for Team USA in BOTH wrestling and Judo by USA Wrestling and USA Judo, respectively, but he will be only be competing in both Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling in Panama City, Panama November 1-3, 2019 instead of also competing in Judo the following weekend in Guadalajara, Mexico on November 10th. It would be too difficult to make the weight for Judo at 36kg(79.2 lbs).
He has been given this earlier than expected opportunity because of his great competition performances this past year. He was advanced enough to compete in the under 15 age categories in both sports as a precocious 12 year old.
He is the youngest Poway wrestler to make a national team during Poway Wrestling’s storied 40 year history.
Our goal is to raise $3,500 to help fly him and his dad to escort him to Panama and back, which include expenses for the hotel, food, and transportation. If we are able to exceed our request of $3,500, those extra funds will go towards upcoming wrestling competitions including the Virginia Holiday Duals this December, Maryland’s McDonogh Duals in January 2020, and New Jersey Wildwood Duals in February 2020, all of which he competed in last year and he earned All-American honors in Virginia and New Jersey, going 8-2 in both duals.
Please help Elias showcase his skills to the world and use that experience to help give him a legitimate shot to compete in one or maybe all three sports in Paris 2024 and Los Angeles in 2028.
We appreciate all and any support that he can get! Please share this link with anybody who would be kind enough to help Elias in this endeavor. Thank you and God bless!
