It is not in my nature to ask others for help nor to share personal struggles but I do so now by the wishes of my family and friends. My family seeks help in paying for the funeral arrangements and medical bills of my father Roberto Ramirez who passed away this Tuesday.
My father and mother have both not been working much due to each of their respective ailments. My mother suffering from an injured foot and my father from his diabetes. So our family does not have a lot of funds for these sudden expenses and are asking for help from our friends and family. My family thanks you for any help, thoughts, and prayers during these difficult times.
It all began this last Monday on what was supposed to be a joyous birthday for my little sister. I was in the shower when my mother called out to me that something was wrong with my dad. I rushed out and began to check his pulse and thought to myself that I must be doing it wrong because I could not feel his pulse. I called 911. They began to rush over as I pulled my father out of bed and began to give him CPR through the guidance of the 911 operator. The paramedics came 15 minutes later and took over for me. They were able to get a pulse going a little while after and rushed him to the hospital.
My father's condition was critical and he was put on life support. After running many tests the doctors told us his chances of surviving were slim to none. And even if he did survive, he had sustained heavy damage to his cerebral. With that being said the doctors asked if my father would've wanted them to continue treatment. We proceeded to call family and friends to update them on the situation. We all held out hope that by some miracle he would recover.
The next day, however, the doctors told us that his organs were beginning to fail him and he didn't have many days left. At that point, we decided to face the reality of the situation. My father was not going to recover. I stayed by his bedside all day with my mother and sister while we waited for our family and friends to arrive. That night once everyone was gathered, we said our last goodbyes and took my dad off life support.
My father was a good man. He was well-loved by his family and friends. We will all miss him dearly.
