A Great Man- Matt Collins

My name is Michael. I've been all around and have met a lot of people but no one has ever left the impression Matt Collins left on me. Matt was a rare type of man. Matt could light up a room just by walking into it. He was a magnet, people just gravitated to him like a moth to a flame. He would give you the clothes off of his back even if it were the last thing he owned. People loved Matt. It helps that he was just about the funniest person to have ever been put on this planet. He could have you rolling for hours.
Unfortunately, Matt was taken from us far too soon. He passed peacefully in his sleep due to complications of an undiagnosed medical condition on Tuesday, September 10th, before the rise of the sun at the young age of 48. His loving wife Mindy found him in his bed after she got off of work.
Matt always told Mindy to not have a big fuss if something ever happened to him. He always said to just put him in the fire pit. The only request he ever had was to sprinkle some of his ashes on the Arkansas Razorbacks football field. He didn't want a fuss over him. Matt was a man of great virtue and a great big giant heart.
In the wake of his loss Mindy was devasted. As were the 5 children he left behind. 3 of which were hers, Alexis, Aleysha and Ashley and 2 of his own, Preston and Brooke as well as his grandson Kyrie. Matt put everything he had into the people in his life. With Matt passing though, it leaves a great strain on Mindy, she now has to cover the costs of everything to do with a funeral and associated costs. As well as keeping up with all of her bills and the like in the absence of Matt's income. I want to make sure Matt gets everything he deserves when it comes to a funeral, and that Mindy and the children have an offset while she goes through this hardship.
Matt and Mindy were never ones to ask for help, and still the stubborn one, Mindy is trying to shoulder all of the burden and I'd like to get her some help. So please everyone, help however you can. Give whatever you can so we can make sure that Matt has the funeral and goodbyes that he deserves and his wife and children are taken care of.
Matt was a Correctional Officer for Santa Rosa Correctional Institution, protecting society and reforming lives. He loved his job and cared for the people that worked with him deeply. They loved him as well. Matt was also a comedian with a fairly large audience. When I say this man could make a room brighten just but walking into I'm serious. He had comedic chops like no other and has large aspirations for furthing that career as well. I wish he would have been able to make those dreams a reality. Instead though, I and everyone else Matt has touched throughout his life, will hold on to him in different ways. Through our memories and the knowledge that on the end... Matt this still here with us. At least in spirit.
