Nighttime Doula Support For Jess and David
Donation protected
Here is beautiful Josephine Seba Wellman! Born 8/30/19 on the new moon at 8:16pm, surprising everyone at 9lbs 7.7oz and 21.5 inches. She has been perfect and resilient in so many ways and could not be more loved!
Jess and David have really appreciated the support of their community, but unfortunately are still struggling. She had a difficult birth resulting in some significant medical complications that have made recovery very challenging and will require surgery, and means her recovery is expected to last an additional 8-16 weeks from now. Basically, she is unable to take care of Josephine except for breastfeeding (which she also still needs help with) or be on her feet except for short shuffles. David is stretched very thin taking care of both of them, especially with an inconsolable baby at night. Dealing with wound care plus breastfeeding is taking up every shred of what Jess has. Her parents have been absolutely amazing but can't be there 24 hours a day.
We are working to get her a postpartum night doula to help support them at night for at least 2-3 nights a week, with friends/family taking short shifts in between. I was wondering any of you could help contribute to the cause. We are still putting together a plan, but are expecting it to be about $400-$450/night and about $800-1600/week. Any amount of help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
