Hello my name is Jaidyn Partin and just 3 weeks ago you would’ve been able to say that I was a normal 10 year old girl. Let’s start from my birthday on August 12th. My mom took me and my siblings and close friends skating for my 10th birthday. I really enjoyed myself. Now let’s fast forward a little bit, about a week later I started to feel really sick. We all thought it was a stomach virus. The following week it was time for me to start my first week of 5th grade. That morning I woke up still feeling sick super nauseous and even had a little headache. While brushing my teeth I got sick and vomited. During the course of the week I began to have really bad stomach pains. My mom began to question if it was normal. By Saturday August 31st my mom and I took our first trip to the hospital and they told me I needed to see a GI specialist. So we returned home and my mom went to work but two hours later I was in so much pain it felt like something was stabbing me in my belly. My grandma called my mom and the ems. Everyone said that there is nothing they could do. Sunday morning my mom woke me up and decided to take me to a completely different hospital. They told my mother that there was nothing wrong with me but I only had anxiety about going to the 5th grade which caused me to be nauseous, have stomach pains and acid reflux. Thankfully my mom did not stop there. We both patiently waited for Tuesday September 3rd so that I could go to my pediatrician. When we arrived at the pediatrician I was able to tell them my story and how I had been suffering. That’s when my life shifted. My pediatrician ordered for me to have a ultrasound of my belly. My mom took me to the radiologist and that’s when they found the first set on spots on my liver. The pediatrician immediately called my mom and said that I then had to go get an MRI. My mom dad and auntie then took me back to the radiologist to get my MRI. Almost 30 mins after leaving from that scan my pediatrician called my mom with the bad news. They told my mom that they had found more spot on my liver and also on my spleen and that I had to then be admitted to Duke hospital. So here I am living an hour away from my brother and sister while my doctors work 24-7 to try and figure out what is going on. They say I could have cancer or some serious infection. After all the blood draws and test they ran they can’t pinpoint what exactly is wrong with me. My pain is being managed and I have surgery on Monday. Through it all I have remained cool calm and collected.
