GREAT GUANA CAY AND ALL OF THE ABACOS WERE DESTROYED BY THE CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE DORIAN.
Update:
I’m headed down to the Bahamas in a few days for 2 1/2 weeks to help the locals rebuild their lives.
I will do what I can with my own skills and the funds I have raised to help locals, some of whom are good friends, to rebuild their lives. I am confident it is now safe for me to go there. Even though there is not yet electricity, I believe there is enough infrastructure to be safe and have clean water. I will be bringing dehydrated food and a water filter and I’m committed to making a positive impact on the local people’s lives. If you are able and feel like helping any contribution is appreciated;)!!!
Love to all who donated at the time of the Hurricane and to all those who have newly been inspired to help. All donations are much appreciated and very helpful!!!!
Older post:
This fund has been set up to support the needs of those whose lives have been devastated .On September 1st this category 5 hurricane with over 185 mph sustained winds, and gusts of over 220 mph, barreled over the Abaco Islands and stalled overhead. It caused complete devastation. Many of the wonderful kind and generous people who live on the islands, in very modest homes, have lost them. They have lost all their possessions and in some cases their loved ones. They have little clean water, no power, food, electricity, fuel, docks to deliver supplies, the list goes on. I will be going down to help once the waves have subsided and an assessment of damage and need is complete. At present I know of several rescue and supply efforts that have been coordinated for the residents’ immediate need. I also know people who are bringing supplies by helicopter and boat. I have posted pictures of the island’s devastation on my Facebook Page. The need is immense and rebuilding the lives of so many is a daunting challenge. Any amount you are able to contribute will greatly affect the lives of the victims. 100% of all monies donated will go directly to the people and help with their imminent needs. Please join me in supporting the people in these desperate communities. The locals and friends who live on Guana Cay, and the larger Abaco Islands, are near and dear to my heart. I have grown up going there every year. The monies raised will not be used to repair any of the damages our family’s property sustained. It’s sole purpose is to help restore the lives of the locals, who are the victims of total loss. Please help in any way you can, truly any amount counts.Thank you in advance for supporting this cause. Christina Selden Moskow
