The injustice that amounts to trauma, abuse, neglect, and rights and freedoms being taken away.
Far too much has happened and the last bit, is the last straw. As I turned towards organizations that should have helped, but instead, turned a blind eye. As I tried to push for reform within the Judicial System by changing the mandate of Legal Aid Ontario, to expand its scope to include civil litigations. As I called numerous lawyers and none of them were willing to operate under a contingency fee. As I am now left, broke, poor and technically homeless, despite my best efforts, while being fully unable to afford a lawyer.
All the while, these spiteful, abusive and hateful people continue to gang up on me, by hitting me where it hurts.
As if forcefully removing my cat, Kitty, from my loving arms to be needlessly euthanized was not enough, as now they take away my housing stability, they take away my rights and my freedom, and they continue to take from me. Even when my foot swelled up so much that it started pussing, as I am a person with a disability being forced to sleep on the streets on my power chair, making it hard on my condition that should have received surgery a long time ago to be able to recover. Even while on antibiotics, they secluded me, treated me differently than others and tossed me to the side, as I have enough strength and courage to question policies and useless by-laws, including and especially the Facemask By-law.
They hate my strength, as the kick, and kick and continue to kick, until I stay down.
Well, I refuse to give up and I refuse to give in.
So without waiting for me to find employment upon graduation, to be able to save up for 4 different lawyers dealing with 4 heavy issues and caseloads, I will start now. Start this fundraiser to address the issue of my cat getting killed in the presence of the Ontario Provincial Police, the issue of my housing situation that got me from a rent geared-to-income unit to being technically homeless on the streets for nearly 10 months now, to the mental health stigma being perpetuated, as my abuser continously finds ways to punish me, to me being recently and unlawfully discharged from a Salvation Army shelter because I refused to do a COVID-19 test, which was not enforced nor was it required by any other resident staying at the shelter.
So please, donate now to not only support me in my social injustice activist work, while dealing with a variety of issues that hit home. But do so knowing that the system will feel the full force of being challenged and subsequently changed as a result of finally bringing about justice.
Please note that the cost for the lawyers represents a bit of an estimate while I am swamped with work, as I finally finish my degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo, after taking almost 11 years to complete a 5 year program. As I was quoted an upfront cost of $2500 to aquire a housing lawyer, while other costs to aquire the other lawyers may be lower or higher, depending. Regardless, multiplying this value by 4, plus the GoFundMe fees, which is 2.9% off of all donations earned, plus a 30-cent charge on every donation, and it equates to $10,320.
I just want to ensure that there is full transparency within this fundraiser, as there was in my previous GoFundMe fundraiser. In which, all proceeds went towards paying off an outstanding balance on my Student Account, in order to go back to school after the University of Waterloo discriminated against me by withholding a disability related bursary.
In any event, feel free to reach out to me during this difficult and trying time.
