This GoFundMe campaign is for our dear friend Ben Zheng.  Ben was hit by a driver under the influence of substance the night of 8/18/19, around 11:30 pm.  He was immediately sent to Regions Hospital’s Emergency Room.  Ben was found to suffer extremely severe brain injuries with multiple head fractures.  After 6-7 hours of surgery performed both by a facial surgeon and a neurosurgeon, he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit and closely monitored for his conditions.  According to the neurosurgeon attending, Ben could be staying in ICU for weeks.  If he safely gets out of ICU, it may take up to a year to fully access all of his brain function loss.  And it could be a very long road of rehab and adjustments for him and for the family…

Many friends expressed their wishes to help and support this family, not only through prayers, but also financially.  At this point, we don’t know how much the medical expenses would come up to be, and what will be his future needs.  But we think $100,000 is likely a lower estimate to begin with.  We will continue to post Ben’s updates through his CaringBridge website (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/benjaminzheng).  We sincerely thank you for all the kindness and love you have shown to Ben and his parents, Qing Zheng and Fang Jiang.
